The workforce landscape has changed, yet many hiring practices still reflect an outdated model that limits talent access and drives preventable turnover. This session explores how HR teams can redefine recruiting to meet today’s workforce realities, strengthen retention, and expand pathways for diverse and capable candidates. Participants will learn practical, people-centered strategies that modernize the hiring process and build a stronger, more reliable talent pipeline. Key learning objectives or key “take-aways” for the Presentation: - Identify limitations of traditional recruiting practices and how they impact talent flow.

Jane Gray: Project Coordinator for Future Makers Coalition at Collaboratory
Jane Gray is Grant Project Coordinator at Collaboratory, where she plays a key role in advancing FutureMakers Coalition, a collective impact initiative focused on improving educational and career outcomes for youth and young adults in Southwest Florida. In her role, Jane supports cross-sector collaboration, grantmaking, and data-informed strategy to help align partners around shared goals and measurable impact. She holds an MBA from the University of Florida, along with degrees in political science and economics, and is passionate about mission-driven work that blends strategy, equity, and long-term community change. 
Geoffrey Chambers: Employer Recruitment Specialist, FutureMakers Coalition at Collaboratory Geoffrey Chambers is an Employer Recruitment Specialist with the FutureMakers Coalition at Collaboratory, where he works with employers, HR teams, and community partners to strengthen regional talent pipelines and support long-term workforce solutions across Southwest Florida, ensuring that 60% of adults in the region hold a high-quality credential or degree by 2030, adding to the nearly 55,000 new credentials FutureMakers has brought to the workforce since 2013. With two decades of relationship-driven operations and people-centered service roles, Geoffrey brings both a practical understanding of how individuals and organizations navigate work, opportunity, and change, and a boots-on-the-ground approach to supporting the people and systems involved. In his role with FutureMakers, Geoffrey partners with cross-sector organizations to rethink traditional hiring practices, address systemic barriers, and evolve recruitment strategies with the shifting needs of the regional labor market. A Florida native, Geoffrey has proudly called Southwest Florida home for the past five years and is committed to supporting the community he now serves.
